Colourful Buddha and Lotus Backflow Incense Burner

A brightly painted Buddha sits among pink lotus flowers and tall green leaves. The cone goes in the flower at the top. Once lit, the smoke cascades down the front like a waterfall and pools at the bottom.

It measures 14 cm tall, 11 cm wide and 14 cm deep, weighs about 500 g, and is made from resin and polyresin. Cones are sold separately. Use backflow cones only. Standard solid cones will burn, but their smoke rises instead of falling. You'll find them in our backflow incense cones collection.

Why does the smoke fall? A backflow cone has a hollow channel through its base. The smoke is drawn down through it, cools on the way and comes out heavier than the warm air around it, so it sinks. It flows best in still air. Keep it away from open windows, fans and radiators. If your smoke goes up instead, read why backflow incense might not be working.

Give the cone up to 10 minutes after lighting before the flow really starts. A light oily residue after burning is normal. Wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Safety: burn on a flat, heat-proof surface. Never leave burning incense unattended. Keep it away from children, pets and anything that can catch fire, and keep the room ventilated.
